Joyful Christians Rock!
Have you seen the colorful rocks around town? The Joyful Christians Sunday school class has a Facebook page called “Joyful Christians Rock – Salem UMC” and they invite you to paint some rocks, put the name of the Facebook page on one side, take a picture of the rock and then tag it on their page. If you’re not on Facebook, you can still paint rocks with Salem’s name and service times and hide them around town. It’s fun to paint, hide and find the rocks!

Annual Family Ministries Camping Trip
Salem’s annual camping weekend is September 22-24 at Bear Den Campground in Spruce Pine, NC. See Wendi Riddle or Jenny Reilly for more information or check out www.bear-den.com for registration information.

Funtimers Next Outing is October 5 to Mount Airy
Our first stop will be a guided tour at the Andy Griffith Museum followed by lunch at The Loaded Goat restaurant and an afternoon complete with time to stroll through Mount Airy and shop. The cost for the museum is $8. More details and a sign-up sheet are located outside the church office. We will leave the church at 8:15 am and return around 4:00 pm.

Bazaar & BBQ Coming October 14!
This year the annual bazaar and Port-A-Pit BBQ will be on the same day, and we cannot do it without your help!
The bazaar will start at 8am and the BBQ opens at 11am. They will both remain open until 7pm to include lunch and dinner.
The BBQ tickets will be on sale after Labor Day for $10 each. Consider buying ten and giving them away as an outreach – firefighters, police officers, teachers, nurses, etc. Take a plate to a shut-in or someone in a nursing home. Last year we sold 660 tickets and our goal this year is 1,000. We can only do it with your help!
For the bazaar, we need silent auction baskets or items of value. We also need various kinds of baked goods, cakes, pies, cookies, breads, jams, jellies and other homemade canned goods.
Contact Kelly Parker or Diane Keeney for information.

Simply Delicious!
The cookbooks are here! They are available for $20 each. It’s not too early to start your Christmas shopping, and a cookbook is a gift that keeps on giving! Stop by the narthex today or contact Judy Broussard, Barbara Yarbrough or Mary Lynn Creech to purchase yours. Cash and checks are accepted now, and we will be accepting credit/debit cards soon.

Women’s Retreat is November 3-5! See Jenny Reilly for details.
