“Bah! Humbug!” These two words are the trademark phrase of the hard-nosed, cold-hearted, tight-fisted, grouchy old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, in Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol. It is the story of Scrooge’s startling encounter with a series of ghosts on Christmas Eve. The story barely covers 24 hours of Scrooge’s life, but that is enough time for him to be transformed and redeemed. Most of us have a little bit of “Scrooge” on the inside that could use some transformation. So join us this Christmas season at Salem UMC as we discover anew the healing power of God’s grace in Jesus Christ!

Salem’s Stained Glass Windows to be Repaired
Our stained glass windows are in need of repair. The estimated cost is $15,000 to repair the windows and provide protection from the elements on the outside. If we don’t do this now, the cost will only increase as the windows continue to deteriorate. Salem’s Willing Workers are going to match the first $5000 in donations to help repair our stained glass windows. If you would like to donate to this worthwhile project to preserve Salem’s history, put your donation in an offering envelope marked “stained glass windows.” Thank you in advance!

“Women of the Bible for Women of Today” Change of Dates
Did you know there are 188 named women of the Bible and many more unnamed women? Each week we examine the life and times of one of these women to better understand the role they played in the faith narrative and what her life can teach us about the faith journey today. Each lesson is a stand-alone lesson so you can join us any week as you are able. December’s women will be three ladies involved in the anticipation of the birth of Christ. Can you guess who they are?
We hope to see you December 6 & 13 at 10:00 am. We will not meet December 20.
The white church mailbox will be in the welcome center during the month of December for those who wish to give Christmas cards to members of the congregation.
