October 24 – Funtimers trip to Little Switzerland

November 12 – Funtimers fall luncheon

Funtimers Fall Schedule of Events

On October 24, the Funtimers will travel to Little Switzerland where we will enjoy lunch and view the gardens at the Switzerland Inn. There will be time for sightseeing and shopping in the town. On the way home, we will stop at an apple orchard for apples for our pies, apple sauce or eating. Most importantly, we will enjoy a day of Christian fellowship. We will meet at the church at 8:45 and leave by 9:00. The sign-up sheet is in the mission hall, and the last day to sign up is October 20. Please contact Betty Finney with any questions.

Worship Before Wednesday Night Dinners

This Wednesday, September 18, we will begin a new worship service in the sanctuary prior to the community dinner that’s open to all. The service will begin at 5:00 pm and be completed by 5:25 pm. Pass the word and plan on being part of this new ministry opportunity.

Women’s Bible Study Meets Wednesdays Mornings at 10:00 in room 4

Our fall (and probably beyond) study will be on the names of God. Did you know that there are at least 52 various names and titles for God in the Bible? Each one brings to light part of God’s character and more. Using them in study can help us experience God in fresh and deeper ways. Each week will be a stand-alone lesson. You may find it helpful to bring your own Bible, a journal and your favorite pen, but handouts are provided.

Rise Against Hunger November 9

Formerly known as Stop Hunger Now,  Rise Against Hunger is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Its mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

Salem and Holy Spirit Catholic Church will be partnering to host a meal packaging event on November 9. We anticipate packing at least 10,000 meals! You will have several opportunities to participate by volunteering at the event, supporting fundraising events, and/or donating toward the cost of the meals. Our Change for a Change offerings during the next quarter will be designated for this ministry.

College Student Addresses

With a new school year comes new addresses and contact information. Please let the church office know of college student mailing and email addresses so we can keep in touch throughout the year.

A Disciple’s Path

Our fall focus will be an intentional look at discipleship. What does discipleship mean? Where are you on the path? What are your next steps?

Watch for more details in the weekly e-news and the September Salem Matters regarding opportunities with worship, Bible study, prayer and conversation.

New Online Resource for Salem

Salem now provides a free online resource full of videos from some of our favorite Bible study teachers and authors. We are a beta test church for this new program so please let Jenny know about any issues you encounter as they make improvements.
