October 24 – Funtimers trip to Little Switzerland

November 12 – Funtimers fall luncheon

Funtimers Fall Schedule of Events

On October 24, the Funtimers will travel to Little Switzerland where we will enjoy lunch and view the gardens at the Switzerland Inn. There will be time for sightseeing and shopping in town. On the way home, we will stop at an apple orchard for apples for our pies, apple sauce or eating. Most importantly, we will enjoy a day of Christian fellowship. We will meet at the church at 8:45 and leave by 9:00. The sign-up sheet is in the mission hall, and the last day to sign up is October 20. Please contact Betty Finney with any questions.

Women’s Bible Study Meets Wednesdays at 10:00 in room 4

Our current study is on the names of God. Did you know that there are at least 52 various names and titles for God in the Bible? Each one brings to light part of God’s character and more. Each week will be a stand-alone lesson so come when you are able. You may find it helpful to bring your own Bible, a journal and your favorite pen, but handouts are provided.

Nursery Team

Did you miss the training for nursery team? A reminder that all who serve or wish to serve in the nursery are to meet with Jenny Reilly to be updated on our policies as we strive to be the safest and most caring place possible for God’s youngest children. We have had a growing number of children in our services so we welcome smiling faces who know the love of Christ and wish to share it with these gifts from God.

Rise Against Hunger November 9

Formerly known as Stop Hunger Now,  Rise Against Hunger is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Its mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

Salem and Holy Spirit Catholic Church will be partnering to host a meal packaging event on November 9.  This link allows you to volunteer, donate or learn more about Rise Against Hunger:

New Online Resource for Salem

Salem now provides a free online resource full of videos from some of our favorite Bible study teachers and authors. We are a beta test church for this new program so please let Jenny know about any issues you encounter as they make improvements.

Current studies you may wish to view include

Revival

A Disciple’s Path.

Books to use with these video studies are available in the office hallway. The church also has books to go with many of the other studies and you may see Jenny Reilly for these. See something you would like to study with a group? Let Jenny know and we will get a book study group together for a few weeks. These studies are typically about 4-6 lessons and would be great for a short-term or monthly small group or book club. Let us know what you have found helpful!
