Daily Bible Reading Plan
Starting January 1, we will be reading through the Bible together. We will post weekly updates in the e-news, bulletin and social media sites. Printed reading guides are available outside Jenny’s office. Any Bible will do, so choose your favorite and join us. If you prefer a Bible that has prayers and meditations on the passage, we have a couple of extra copies of the NRSV Daily Bible. Please see Jenny.
Men’s Bible Study
Thursday night men’s Bible study is on break for the holidays. They will resume January 9 at 7:00 pm at Wendy’s restaurant.
Tabitha’s Hands Invites You
If you’d like to learn how to knit or crochet, or you’d just like to join a diverse group (ages 12 to 98) of needleworkers that do projects to serve all God’s children, United Methodist Women’s group Tabitha’s Hands is just the group for you.
Unless otherwise indicated, we meet every first Wednesday at 5:30ish in room #4 during the Wednesday night dinner. We spend our time together eating, needle working, sharing patterns, new ideas and resources, and teaching each other various needle crafts. We also do several service projects a year and meet in members’ homes away from our regular schedule.
Contact Elinor Heermans at 704-840-8080 if you would like more information about our group.
New Study Starts January 12
The GIFT (Growing in Faith Together) class will be starting a 6-week study titled “Heaven, It’s Not What You Think.” What do you think heaven is like? What will we do in heaven? Are you excited to go there? It’s more than harps, clouds and singing! This series by Chip Ingram digs into scripture to reveal what our heavenly home will be like, what we will do there, what we’ll experience, and how we’re to prepare for eternity.
We invite everyone to join this study starting Sunday, January 12, at 10:10 am in room 9.
Holy Land Trip is October 19-28
As part of our focus on the journey through the Bible, Salem is leading a team to the Holy Land with Educational Opportunities. We invite you (and any friends and family) to join us on this Bible Land Exploration program that will expand our knowledge of the Bible and this sacred land. You will learn why scholars refer to the Holy Land as the “Fifth Gospel.” Our journey will take us to places that were key in both the Old and New Testaments.
Here is a glimpse of the places we will go: Caesarea where Paul was imprisoned, Mount Carmel where Elijah was victorious over the prophets of Baal, Magdala where a first-century synagogue was recently discovered, Mount of Beatitudes, Tel Dan, the Jordan River, Qumran and the Dead Sea, Bethlehem, and many of the sites referenced in Jesus’ ministry and leading up to his crucifixion.
For a more details, itinerary, and registration forms, please pick up a packet outside Jenny’s office. Please join us for this experience that will truly impact your faith journey.
