What is Respite?
R Friends is an outreach ministry of Salem United Methodist, serving both our own congregation and the surrounding community. When we launch in Fall 2026, we will offer respite care to care partners of individuals with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and dementia. The respite allows the caregiver to meet appointments, have lunch with friends, shop, or just take a nap. Respite also provides the friend with cognitive issues community, activities, and a good meal.
